Brief Description:  Removing the blue protective plastic

Yep, about 7 hours to pull all of this stuff off. It gets to be just a little tiring and your hands will really feel it. I will admit that I took my time with frequent breaks.

As far as removing the blue protective plastic decision goes; I have read both pro's and cons on the forums. Corrosion is the main issue from moisture trapped between the metal and plastic when the covering is applied prior to shipping. I think that you can get away with removing the plastic with a soldering iron in the areas that you will be drilling and dimpling, etc., if you are going to jump in and get going. The alclad does scratch very easily. However, if you will be going extremely slowly (several months) you might want to research the forums about issues of corrosion related to the protective blue stuff. I suspect that for a few months you will probably be fine with leaving the stuff on. It sure helps to protect the alclad.

The protective covering is no picnic to remove. I was really starting to hate that stuff.
