Brief Description:  Checking and Insuring Connecting Rod Clearance

Put Prussian Blue on connecting rod ends and then temporarily assembled crankcase halves so I could check for interferance. You can see in picture number one where bluing left the marks in two areas. Used a wood turning chisel from my wood lathe to scrape away material on order to increase clearance. AeroVee manual says there should be .045" clearance and use a Dremel or similar to increase clearance where necessary. Did not want to send chips and deleterious material flying all around so I used wood turning chisel and scraped to the necessary clearances. Youtube video link below demonstrates the process.

When you are turning the crank to check for rubs, try to make sure that the wrist pin end stays centered in the center line of the piston bore. You will have a lot more rub areas if you don't do that.
