Independence Day. Got in 5 good hours of work in the shop in the afternoon. Finished forming the ends of the upper and lower HS forward spar reinforcement angles, then bent the outboard ends of the angles to 6 degrees per the plans. Next up was cutting relief holes in the HS forward spar channels at the bend location. This took a fair amount of time to layout, drill, cut and file to shape. The relief cuts are part of the Service Bulletin which Van’s released earlier this year. I also bent the inboard ends of the channels to match the 6 degree bend in the reinforcement angles and finished off the session by dimpling the two inboard holes in the forward spar channels and countersinking the reinforcement angles to allow the dimpled channels to sit flush against them.
