Cutting the holes and notches in the cowling were done with a nibbiler tool and with a sanding wheel drill attachment. The plans provided good directions and measurments for the tasks. However the plans were not very descriptive regarding the fuel or oil door openings.
I had a lot of trouble fitting the cowl. I had conflicts on the top and bottom. The bottom was solved by cutting off an inch of the intake manifold. The top was a conflict with the top mounted oil cooler. It was solved by buying and installing a different oil cooler mount which pushed the oil cooler slightly further back on the engine. More about the oil cooler on another page.
