Brief Description: Pilot drilled left wingtip to skin
Got sidetracked today so sisn't get much accomplished. I did get the tip drilled to the left OB wing. The tip fit well. Next process will be to install the #4 screws and nutplates using a 1/2" wide aluminum strip 30 ga. The process I will follow to install the nutplates is:
Wing Tip procedure 1. Pilot drill tip to skin, #40 bit, Cleco as you go. 2. Up drill to #33 holes. 3. Remove tip and pilot drill backer holes to #33 using alligator clecos. 4. Fit and drill #4 nutplates to backer strip and tip. Use #4 screw to hold plate in place. 5. Counter sink #4 holes in tip and backer plate. 6. Counter sink #40 rivet holes in tip for nutplates and rivets that hold the backer in place. 7. Rivet backer plate and nutplates in place using soft rivets. 8. Dimple wing skin for #4 screws 9. Run #4 tap partially through all nutplates 10. Done!
