Cut the top half of the new .063 ga. panel I plan to use. I next need to fine tune the top curve if needed and when happy, cut the bottom portion. The panel will be 2 1/8" lower than the original with an additional 4 1/2" drop down center console. I've already fitted the original panel to the glare shield with #6 flush screws and recessed nutplates. I plan to "sister" the new panel on top of the original. I'll drill for 3/32 flush solid rivets along the top perimeter of the panels and then before riveting I will trim away all but 3/4" of the original panel along the top curve. So, I will be using the fitted tabs and nutplates of the original panel attached to the new larger and thicker panel.
