Updrilled glareshield to #30 and notched for clearance of the fuel tank AN3 strap bolts. Also drilled the rear 3/4" angle brace to the top stringers. This rear angle was added by me to help hold the tank in place and prevent the fuselage top stringers from bending inward when the tank straps are tightened. The additional angle brace is probably not needed but since I installed the tank straps outside of the molded tank notches and I am also modifying the panel, I wanted to make sure my modifications do not create any problems. The additional weight is less than 1/2 lib.
Next step will be to install #6 nutplates on the bottom of the fuselage top stringers so I can later remove the glare shield if necessary. I notched the glare shield for the tank strap bolts so I wont have to drop the tank if I want to remove the glare shield. I may also install AN3 nutplates for the 4 top motor mount brace bolts. These bolts go through the glare shield edge and I imagine getting nuts onto these 4 bolts with the glare shield installed will be difficult so If I can fit some nutplates, it will make things much easier.
