Brief Description: Drilled AN3 bolt holes for fuel tank straps
Drilled AN3 bolt holes for fuel tank straps. Drilled the holes in the top stringers between existing holes used for mounting the glareshield. The tank straps will not be located between the small notches molded into the tank. They will be outside the notches but up against one of the notch edges in both cases. I plan to notch the glareshield to accomodate the AN3 bolt heads so the glareshield can be taken off without having to drop the tank.
I'm also fitting a 3/4" angle behind the tank to help hold the tank in place and also prevent the fuselage stringers from bending in when I tighted the tank straps. I glued sheet rubber on the side of the angle that will be up against the tank. I also glued 1/8" rubber edging on the front fuselage top horizontal brace that the tank is pushed up against. Probably not necessary but will help prevent the angle from chewing into the tank since there will be significant vibrations in that area.
