Brief Description: Panel and glare shield attachment
Wasn't happy with the original glareshield to FW attach strap so ordered a new one and worked fitting it. I didn't get very sharp bends on the original strap and I bent the tabs before I installed nutplates which was going to cause problems so I ordered a new strap and tried again. This time I drilled the strap for #6 nutplates on the glareshiel attach side before I bent the tabs. I bent the tabs to 90 degrees in a vice using a wood block and hammer which gave me nice bends with a small radius. I then dimpled the strap for the nutplate rivets. I haven't decided yet whether to use flush #6 screws or standard button top. If I decide on flush screws I will need to dimple the strap screw holes befor riveting the nutplates in place. I want to get the nutplates riveted in place before I drill the fw to the strap.
I also updrilled the instrument panel tabs to #29 and then drilled them for #6 nutplates also. I dimpled the rivet attach holes but have not yet dimpled the screw holes. I plan to use flush #6 screws for these attachments since they will be very visible. So, I still need to dimple the glareshield and tabs for the #6 flush screws. Will need to order more #6 flush nutplates before I can complete these pieces.
