Brief Description:  Initial drilling of landing gear

Measured and drilled the landing gear to #30 size. First found center of gear using wood dowls and blocks. I then transfered the center from the bottom of the gear to the top using a sheet of paper. I next measured and marked the two center hole locations and drilled on drill press to #40 and then to #30 from the top side.

Once the two center holes were drilled I clecoes the fuselage angle crossmembers to the gear and used them with additional alligator clecoes as guides for drilling 4 more holes. I just measured and drilled the 4 outer holes. Once all the gear holes were drilled, I inverted the fuselage and placed the gear onto the bottom of the fuselage. I verified with clecos the gear holes were in the correct location and line up with the holes in the fuselage. I used clecoes from the inside of the fuselage up to the gear for the 6 center holes. The outer 4 holes were cloced from the top down. Of course the cloces are not long enough to go through the gear leg and fuselage angles but they are long enough to center the gear and confirm the holes all line up. I took my time measuring and drilling the gear since a mistake could be very expensive. Fortunately all turned out well.

Next job will be to drill and ream to size the 10 holes for AN5 bolts.
