Pilot drilled the left OB wing skins, middle and outer to the wing frame. Updrilled the holes from the center spar to the trailing edge to #30 holes, left the holes forward of the center spar at #40. I have not yet decided what dimple dies I'll use on the flush rivets forward of the main spar so for the time being I will leave these at #40. I need to make some sample dimples in some scrap aluminum to see what works best. I have ordered a couple sets of Sonex dimple dies which I will also be testing.
Will probably work on the left wing tip untill I get the Sonex dimple dies and make some sample dimples. I plan to make the wing tips removeable using #4 screws and nutplates. I used this combination on my RV-9 and it worked well, Cleaveland tool sells a kit for $69 that includes the nutplates, screws and soft rivets. I want the tips to be removeable in case I decide to add lights at a later date. Also, I will be building the long wing tips which I think will not fit through a 7 foot high garage door when folded. I don't plan to be hauling the plane home but do want the option to store it in a garage if needed thus the tips need to be removable.
