Brief Description: Wingtips --- antenna & Nav lights.
Today I finished the empennage tips by trimming the fiberglass I installed not long ago. Then I fitted them at their location to ensure perfect fit. Everything was perfect.
Then on with the Archer antenna installed on the top surface of the right wingtip for my ILS/VOR Nav2000 radio. Long process but very satisfying.
Last I installed the wingtip Nav/Strobe lights. Since I am only priming the aluminium , I installed them permanently for now. The real paint color will be done later next year. For now, I will be just priming for protection and to get it up flying ASAP>
Tomorrow, I hope to get my missing nutplates ... they have not showed up yet. In the meantime, I will do the last probes connections (CHT & EGT) and prepare my garage for spraying the primer.
Also, I made a costly error by buying the wrong com antenna. I bought 2 RAMI AV-534 and should have bought the AV-17 which are meant to be for belly mounting. So I ordered those 2 antennas and asked Aircraft Spruce if they could give me some form of credit for the other 2 because they had never been used ! The biggest difference is in the antenna bend ... the AV-534 is bent at 45 deg. while the other is bent @ 90 deg. I wrote RAMI and they told me I should not bend those antennas as I will likely lose performance.
