Back at the RV project after a week of fun time with a old group of water polo team friends with whom I played the Canada Games in 1977. Yep ! It's been 46 years ago and our friendship is still as strong as it was back then.
Today I started by riveting the louvers on the bottom cowling. Then I adjusted the angle of the air filter bowl because of the new scoop being much thicker.
Finally I did change for the second time the top firewal hinge, pilot side, today. The reason was that the first time, I did not like the fit which was probably caused by my inexperience. Not wanted to wait too long I bought a new hinge at an aviation place but I realised too late that the hinge holes diameter were smaller. I was able to use it but sliding the pin in , all the way was not easy at all.
So when I had to order from Vans my new scoop, I added those hinges which I had decided to replace. This is a long process but I think it will ease a lot the insertion of the 0,090" steel pin.
Because I had to wait for the air bowl re-shaping to dry up, it gave me enough time to replace the short side. I still have to do the other one but at least I have progressed !
