18 1/2 hrs was done in 2 days ... 9 & 9 1/2 today. Remember that on Sunday I disliked the fact that the 2 top cowling corners were sitting proud and that bothered me a lot. First I searchedd the cause and then decided on an action plan.
The cause was due that my kit done in 1994, I was following the instreuctions in the book. During those days they offerd 2 oftions for the top end of the firewall : straight up or you could tilt is a bit and morify the 2 ribs accordingly. If I understood well the reason suggesting that I would have done that. Of course by selecting the straight up firewall , the top cowling resting on the hinge accentuate any variation the fit of the top cowling "missfit" that you might end up with. Lucky me , this is what mine ended having.
The solution was to add shims between the firewall flange and the piano hinge. But that forced me to redo new hinges, shims and the whole shabang ! You can barely see the modification but in the end the cornes fits much more nicely.
