Brief Description:  Working around the engine

This weekend, I have worked at various things which are hard to explain. I started by relocating my larger tools in my garage because there is less and less space ....

Since I never worked around an engine, I needed to figure out how things were going together because the FWF from Vans has been made for a horizontal induction while mine is vertical. So I started to test fit everything and realised that the 45" mixture cable location on the firewall will not connect the mixture arm on the servo from that location. It requires a re-positionning.

So I made an alumisium of what could be made of steel and weld to the supplied plate from the kit. But then I saw that the fuel line was in the way. The fuel line might need to get an extra 1" to clear the path for the cable ... I will need to research that.

I also pulled out the exhaust pipe to see how they fit ... the Vetterman cross over is a nicely done system and the fit is perfect. But here again, I have to get a 1/4" drive swivel socket for that 1/2" nut behind cylinder 2 & 3 because the access is quite tight.

With that being out, I had researched where to locate the EGT probes and proceeded drilling the pipes. I also searched to find the CHT hole location ... well it was a first time for me to find these things so everything is requiring research and efforts !
