Brief Description:  Seat backing preparation

Last weekend , trying to close this Intercom Dsub got me challenged. I was unable to close that Dsub, there were to many wires in the small area. I asked questions and a friend , also an RV6A builder told me he was using the pre-maid Dynon Harness for that. I was unaware but frustration helping, I bought the Dynon SV-HARNESS-INT .

I had a small window of free time again today but I am waiting for the SV-HARNESS-INT for my SV-Intercom-2S which will not arrive before the beginning of August. I thought of doing the seat cussion backing as requested by the lady who will be doing them. Since the upholsterer has received my leather, I needed to prepare the whole thing but that takes a certain amount of time.

There are many different ways of doing those cushions and using a backing is a preference from some people including my upholsterer !

So today I bought the 1/8" birch plywood and proceeded to cut the backing mainly following an excellent article found on the Kitplane web site. I cut the lightening holes (2 1/4" diameter) , on each parts & sand it final . This week I will, for the seat section attach the 3 bottom pieces together with fiberglass , using the already shaped seat cushions I bought from Vans.

Once that will have dried out, I will give it a light epoxy coat to protect it from humidity and it should be good to get it wrapped in leather. More to come on that subject later on !
