Reading through various posts on this subject, my canopy top rear locking handle has a positive locking . Basically you have to pull it, from it's spring loaded in order to avoid having the handle turning freely and potentially locking you outside.
The reason for the UHMW ears on both side of the spring is simply to avoid the washer, which I squared it's sides, to turn with the handle. Very simple system but very effective.
