Brief Description: Inventoried contents of Empannage Kit
Pet peeve #1...looking for something and can't find it. Decided to be anal about organization in the shop area. I had a parts organizer that has 90 individual / removable bins. I numbered the bins from 1 to 90. As I took inventory of each fastner/small part, I placed them in a bin and wrote the bin location number on the parts list furnished by Vans (packing list). Later, when I need a AN3-4A bolt, I will look on the parts list and see that they are located in bin 47. I also wrote the bin location number on the paper bag or zip lock bag (in which the parts were shipped) so I can return the package to the correct bin location without looking the bin number up on the parts sheet again.
The largest parts....large skins, etc., were inventoried and left in the shipping crate. Medium size parts were checked off and placed on the lower shelves of the shop tables.
I was pleasantly surprised that all parts and fasteners were present and accounted for....thank you Van's shipping department.
