My RV-7 builder friend (and boss) Matt Burch has bailed me out (again)! After trying unsuccessfully to get some AN470AD5-12 rivets from Airparts Inc., Matt was nice enough to set me up with some AN470AD5-X rivets, a rivet cutter (a great tool by the way), and a 5/32 rivet set. So now I'm back in business. First I drilled out the holes to #21 size. Next I clecoed the assembly to the bench top so it wouldn't move around while we set the rivets. Then I cut the rivets to size. Since the rivet diameter was 5/32, I cut the rivet to a little more than 7/32. The spec calls for the rivet to extend through the material 1.5 times the rivet diameter. Finally, Martha ran the rivet gun and I bucked the back side and it was done!
