Brief Description:  Painting 3

An interesting experience: It takes only a few minutes to paint (or prime) a big object like the wing but it takes hours to prepare for the painting - not counting the clean up procedure of the booth, fan filters and the spray gun. It is a lot of work and for me the painting of the Savannah will take more than one month including time for drying and hardening of the paint. I wouldn't call this job fun but it is still a great experience.

On a few places I experienced heavy runnings which needed to be handled. Damn, damn, damn.
Fortunately, this type of error is, so far, rare and most of the paint work is not perfect but ok.
Runnings/drips are not impossible to fix but it will steal precious time which I would rather spend on flying. Anyway, I cut the tops ot the drips with a razor blade followed by wet sandpaper grindings, grits 400, 800, 1200, 1500, 2000 and finally polishing. This does the trick, but it's a tedious procedure. All runnings disappear and all that remains is a smooth but dull and non-shining surface that can be worked up with machine rubbing and wax. But as said it is tedious.
