The previous owner Olaf, had gotten the project fairly close to completion. his build quality and attention to detail appeared very well done. He opted for the Dynon Skyview and Jab 3300. Planning on using the plane for commuting I will have to make some changes to include some lighting for night flying, and a few safety and redundant systems. Nick and I picked up the project on Friday the 13th in Paso Robles. I rented a car hauler enclosed 8.5x20' trailer. It was a tight fit and took us most of the day to pack it up. The tail was the biggest hold up. The width was wider than the trailer. I thought about removing the tail, but instead opted to drill out the installed fiberglass horizontal stab tips. After that, it was a tight fit. We managed to secure the wing cradle next to the fuselage. There was very little room between the fuselage and wing cradle and we padded it well. We arrived in Chico and unloaded the Sonex in the hangar the next morning. Everything made it unharmed and unscratched.
A tight fit with tail tips removed
The narrowest clearance between wing cradle and fusulage. We protected it with blacnket padding.
