Brief Description:  Attaching Aileron to wing

Trying to install all the washers, bolts and nuts in the aileron brackets was very tricky. It would not have been a problem for an ambidexterous 10 year old but for me with big hands and long fingers, it was a bitch. So after several failed attempts and many washers hitting the shop floor, I came up with the idea of using automotive gasket blue silicone. Applied a dab to my index finger and sandwiched the appropriate washers together and held them in place. Then I carefully slipped the bolt in place using a 1/8" punch as a place holder from the exit side of the bracket hole. Amazingly, it worked well and I continued on with the same technique for all three attachment positions.

Note in Image #2 the flap hinge pin extending into the aileron bracket. I drilled a hole 1/8" in depth into the bracket, slightly offset so as to add tension, thus preventing the pin from sliding out inadvertantly. It is easily removed by extracting it from the inboard end with vice grips.
