Back in 1982 shortly after getting my private ticket, I joined the local chapter of the EAA. At that time, Chapter 162 met at the Nashville Airport, BNA. That year I along with another co-worker who knew how to fly but did not have a license rented a plane from the FBO at Gallatin airport and took off to Oshkosh. Over the course of the next four years, every August we took off to the greatest show on earth. Each year and walked around the homebuilt section and glazed at the planes.
One that really caught my eye was the Burt Rutan Long-EZ. Wow what a great looking plane, I thought to myself I would love to build one of those one day. At the time I had just married and started a family. I didn't follow that dream at the time but it kind of stayed in the background of my mind until recently.
