The plan was to wait after I return or better yet order the empennage kit while at Sun N' Fun. Well that was before reading that Van's would be going up on their kits prices April 1, 2013. Therefore on March 28, I sent them my order and yesterday, April 3, it was delivered. I carried the two boxes downstairs sat them on the work table and just looked at them and thought to myself, WOW! I was finally at a point in my life that this dream is about to begin. My goal is to have it complete in five years or sooner, the build meter just started.
I opened the smaller box first and unwrapped all the small items and laid them on the table as I identified them in my mind from studying the plans and reading other builders sites for the past three months. Control horns, fiberglass tip for the rudder, electronic trim servo, and so on.
The big box was next. I knew it contained the skins, spars, and stringers. After I got everything out of the box I knew the first thing was to inventory and check off all the parts.
The last item on the agenda tonight, was the inventory of the bag of fasteners. Everything is here other than seven K1100 fasteners which they were noted being back ordered and will be shipped once they receive their shipment. I will wait on getting started until I get back from Sun N’ Fun, well that’s the current plan.
