Brief Description: Insert and position the gear legs
We inserted the main gear legs as a tricycle set up. We liberally coated the bearing surfaces at the upper end of the legs with bearing grease and found they did not come close to fitting. After many hours of brush honing, rotating the legs and brute strength we finally got the legs in place. They are a very tight fit which is probably a good thing. The main axles and wheels on a tricycle are slighlty toed-IN. Hence we needed to ensure the lengths of the main gear are the same and they are toed in correctly. We used an angle iron spread between the legs and ensured the fuselage was level and the angle iron was level. Then we fabriacted a aluminium shim between the outermost 1/4" and obtained the correct toe-in. Finally every thing clamped in place.
