Brief Description: Began Fitting Motor Mount...Finally
Well its been a while since I made major progress on the plane. I finally made up my mind in later September to fit a UL Power engine to the Waiex. After a lot of research I decided to order the Jabiru 2200 standard gear motor mount from Sonex Aircraft, LLC as well as the Universal Cowling they supply for the AeroVee installation. The 2200 mount is a good fit for the UL Power 260iS. The 2200 engine is just a little heavier than the 260 series, but the 260 engine is a little wider so that is why there is a need for the univeral cowling.
Those parts finally arrived today via ConWay Freight. Only a 50 pound box but it was fairly large. Tonight I started trial clamping the mount to the airframe and fabricating the necessary shims.
I ended up needing 2-3 .032" shims for each mount location.
