I decided to go ahead and purchase a drill press for this project. I found this unit at Lowes for $329.00. There are many other models available, but i decided to spend an extra $70 to get this Porter Cable version. It is very well made and the reviews online seemed to be positive. Harbor Freight, Menards, and Home Depot all have floor mounted models starting in the low $200 range. It took me about an hour to assemble, if I count taking it out of the box. Pretty simple in all.
