Brief Description: Flap actuator, wing attach, right tank
The cold weather prevented any further sessions last week, but today was a bit milder and I resumed work.
The flap actuator and flap actuator arm were removed from the fuselage. The flaps and pushrods have already been fitted and it will be easier to paint the interior with them out. Drilled and riveted nutplates to fuselage floor for flap actuator arm brearing block.
Next I remover the right fuel tank. This was a very time consuming process and it took nearly 3 hours to get all the bolts removed as they are fairly hard to access. I was on my back on the floor reaching through access holes to remove bolts I could not even see. I will look at Home Depot tomorrow for a ratcheting flat wrenc as I think this would help matters. Or even just a short handle ratchet wrench. Once the bolts were removed all the screws around the skin perimeter were removed and the tank was then removed. I used a file to take about 1/16" off the skin where it meets the leading edge to eliminate overlap and provide a small gap.
Vent lines from the fuselage to the tanks were formed and fitted.
