Today I continued work on the tail section for the empennage fairing. This included tapping of the remaining screw (previously rivet) holes on the main longeron, and drilling out a number of rivets attaching the aft top skin to the aft bulkhead and installing platenuts. If the plans mentioned this earlier I missed it, but it sure would have been easier to do this before the top skins were riveted.
It was another fine day in Carolina and the Dacathlon got a second day of exercise, today with an flight to Asheboro and back. As pretty as it was there were some pretty good lumps in the air.
With the tail prep complete I straightened up the hangar and stocked all of the hardware from the Finishing Kit into the bins and shelves.
The next task will be to rivet the cowl attach hinges to the firewall and forward skins in prparation for mounting the engine mount.
