Today work continued on the tanks, and I (partially) riveted the interior ribs of the right tank to the skin. I did a bit more prep work than for the left tank, mainly to remove the sealant "nub" left at the tip of each cleco prior to riveting. This was a good call as removing these after the rivets are set is a bit harder. I removed every third cleco from the right tank skin. prepped each hole, applied the "fey" dab of sealant to the skin countersink, inserted and then drove rivets. I must have been tired because my right arm just quit after this 1/3 rivets were complete. I did manage to complete all rivets in one end rib and set a few rivets in the filler flange using the squeezer.
After that I did some prep and layout work on the replacement innermost ribs for the tanks. I had incorrectly drilled too lare a hole for the vent line and sender coupling. I thought I could use doublers to correct this but after riveting one doubler with sealant I decided againt this, so ordered the replacement parts from Van's. New ribs were flange straightened, fluted and marked for holes.
I will complete the riveting of the interior ribs tomorrow after my arms can rest a bit.
