Several hours today were spent flying. I had the opportunity to fly an RV-7A with me firend Eric Minnis from Bully Aero. I know I made the right choice!! What a dream it is to fly!! Control responsiveness is terrific, especially in roll.
After woring on my -7 a bit, I took the Decathlon out for some exercise and practiced some landings. The day was pretty but a little bumpy. Still, a nice diversion. The work completed today was:
Completed the left aileron by using pull rivets to attach the leading edge and trailing skins to the spar. Then I assembled the right aileron using the smae sequence of skins to top spar, skin to nose rib, tops skin to main ribs, ribs to spar, rivet counterbalance pipe to leading edge skin, bottom skins to node and main ribs, and finally leading and training edge skin bottoms to main spar. Then the attach brackets were bolted on.
The next project will be the tanks. The weather is now warm enough and with retirement I now have enough time to devote to this process. I continued preparation of the tank components by dimpling the ribs and stiffeners for the right tank.
