After a number of sessions doing prep work on the wing spars and ribs, it was finally time to do some assembling!!! Working on just the left wing, I clecoed the main wing ribs to the front and rear spar. I then final drilled the holes using a #30 reamer. The next step was to disassemble everything and deburr the freshly reamed holes before rivetling. I also cleaned the ribs where sticker residue was present with acetone. The skeleton was reassembled with clecos and then I riveted the rear spar to all ribs. I used the pneumatic squeezer to set all the rivets and because of various thicknesses of material there were a number of rivet lengths used so the squeezer had to be reset for each length. It all turned out great and it was very gratifying to see such a large structure after a session's work.
I also spent a bit of time setting the wing stands in position, and verified distance using the main spar before I attached it to any ribs. I will need to set the stands next session so they will be ready to accept the riveted skeleton.
Next session the front spar will get riveted to the ribs.
