Brief Description:  Figuring out the brake system

After spending two and a half hours racking our brains to try and figure out how the brake systems work, we finally figured it out. Before meeting with my dad, I sent him this email, referring to the diagram on this page:

This is a rudimentary brake diagram I drew. This is the configuration for the dual brakes according to the Sportsman Rudder Control & Brake System Plumbing Installation TWTT Task 0500 document.

There are a couple of issues still. This would be the configuration before we installed the parking brake, had we been supplied with all the lines/parts needed to assemble the brake system. So this document is not an accurate representation of what the finished product on our plane would look like, it is only for conceptual purposes.

What we still need to do is draw out a diagram of the brake lines with the parking brake installed, which should be a variation of what this diagram depicts, but with the parking brake valve installed onto the existing brake lines (attached to the brake caliper assemblies at the wheels) to the downstream side of the valve assembly [see page 7 of Parking Brake Option Kit Instructions]. The extra 42" and 52" stainless brake lines we will order will replace what would have been nylaflow (had we been supplied it) for the rest of the pressurized brake lines from the master cylinders.
-------
After sending this email, we realized that 60" stainless steel braided brake lines would not reach all the way from the brake calipers on the wheels, up the gear legs, through the fuselage, to finally attach to the lower master cylinder ports on the right side. Our epiphany came when we realized that the 42" and 52" SS brake lines attach to the existing lines after connecting to the valve for the parking brake option (which we have decided we will order for the plane). We are opting for stainless steel brake lines over the Nylaflow pressure tubing lines as well, in order to increase durability and reliability. Tonight we ordered 2 x 25" SS brake lines, and the parking brake kit.
