- Did some research and decided the Mobil 1 Full Synthetic ATF is a suitable brake fluid for my plane. - Followed Van's very vague instructions on bleeding the brakes. - Started on the right break and found out I had a leaking master cylinder at the junction where the high pressure flex hose joins the brass elbow. Made a huge mess in the cockpit. Disassembled and realized the junction had 2 female ends, so no seal. Checked the drawing which was for the all homemade clear lines, not the high pressure braided flex line I have. Removed the brass elbow and put in an aluminum one that had the correct male end. Had to do the same to the left brake, too. - Filled the right side, but fluid would only crossover to the left as far as the master cylinder. I pumped so much that the pressure relief on the reservoir started leaking as designed. At least, I know that works. I guess Vans instructions implied you have to bleed each side in turn. Anyway, I did. I still have a few small air bubbles to deal with, but I'm going to let it sit overnight and see if the bubbles gather at the high points in the lines.
