Brief Description: Drill Elevator Horns; unpack Finish Kit
- Clamped horizontal stabilizer to workbench and installed elevators - Measured 27/32" gap between elevator horns and made spacer/drill guide to fit. Drilled a #30 pilot hole through drill guide using drill press to ensure hole perpendicular to surfaces - The right elevator horn was slightly aft of the left one, so I measured and drilled a #30 pilot hole through the right horn per drawing 27A. Note I did not see a reason to remove the elevator to do this as I had plenty of access for the drill. - Installed the spacer/drill guide and clamped into place. Drilled trhough left horn using #30. Then, removed guide block and opened holes in each horn individually using 3/16" step drill. Also, today I unpacked the Finishing Kit which arrived this past Wednesday (today is Friday). Penny was nice enough to clear me out a quarter of the spare bedroom where I put the large pieces like the cowl and canopy. I've inventoried all the large parts and a couple of the smaller sub-kits.
