Brief Description: Fabricating the Wing leading endge gig
Although I won’t need those gigs until a little while (page 15-02), I’ve decided to trim those out from that piece of plywood resting on the wall of the shop. You know the one that came from one of the two crates that you pick up few days ago? I’m tired to go around it each time I go in the back of my shop...
In order to replicate two identical (almost) gigs, you simply trim them off with similar dimensions and screw them down together. Then you square off the sides with the band saw. Afterward, you remove the inner portion with whatever type of jigsaw you might have at hand and finally, you smooth out the edges with sand paper wrapped around a block of wood. From this point, it is just a matter of cutting, gluing and screwing a flat block of wood that will serve as the clamping surface for the gig. Et voilà !
