Brief Description:  Parts unwrapping and identification

No matter how eager you might be for pounding rivets on your brand new kit, you’ll have to go through parts unwrapping and identification. Most of the ribs and skins are covered with a protective blue film that protects the parts from being scratched while manipulating them. Sooner or later, you’ve got to remove it because it has to be removed before dimpling and riveting the parts together.

Like it or not, this is another task that allows you to familiarized further more with the kit parts. One note here; be careful while noting and writing down the part number. It happens time to time that you miswrite it and this could lead to errors and serious mistake. A couple of times I’ve inverted the “right” and “left” mark on similar parts. Better check twice.

Edith (my wife) came back home early this afternoon and she entered the “man’s cave” to see what I was doing. After a very quick negotiation, she decided to give me a hand with the unwrapping thing. Well, we were almost done in no time. And she told me that she enjoyed it.! Lucky me. Who knows, perhaps she’ll spend more time in the man’s cave...

I have to call it a day; I have to leave early tomorrow morning for a business trip. I have to attend a trade show in Montreal where we have a booth at the Palais des Congrès for the World Mining Congress. I’ll resume the work on the wings on my return in the middle of next week.
