Manual Reference:
Brief Description:  Gas struts, canopy frame, interior fittings

Started the day by designing and then manufacturing a simple bushing or 'slide bearing' from 35mm UHMW bar stock to replace the inadeqaute snap bushing on the panel for the jettison handle. Turned this using an improvised 'lathe' with the drill press and achieved a perfect fit and superb results when final fitted the part in the panel and then reinstalled the handle.

Also identified and laid out all the drawings parts and hardware for the gas strut assemblies including sourcing some images and advice in preparation for their fabrication and installation. Fabricated in the T6 stock provided, the first set of strut mounting brackets C-728.

Also final fitted the bolts and nuts in the loose fitted canopy latch installtion as well as the handle 'knob' I cleaned up in my homemade 'lathe'. Then the latch lock was cleaned up (filed) and installed and the spring and wire core were made up - I improved this slightly bettering Van's with a retaining bushing and a sheath on the open end of the wire.
