Brief Description:  R wing riveting, priming, tip heat shielding.

Half day today started at 11.30. Today I moved the wing into the cradle for easier access in riveting after some work with the hadn squeezer whilst the wing was on the work top. I again continued from the root towards the tip working from the lower leading edge up towards the trailing edge but riveted portions of the trailing edge spar as far as the two bays at a time I was busy on.

I am finding this wing to be a real pain because it works out that I have to hold the bar with the right hand and the gun with the left which is causing slips and less than accurate work so I choose rather to cross over which is quite contorting and really painful on my arms and back, I am getting great results though with not a single slip or ding or smiley yet!

I and my back needed a break from the rivet work so made up some templates from the already installed left tip heat sheild panels and cut some opposite panels in heat shiled foil for the right tip.

When riveting the left wing closed I noticed, especially towards the end that the skin I was riveting would scuff at the rib flanges during the riveting process, rubbing off the primer so although I had laid a fine coat of sand primer on this skin inside surface and the ribs and interior were lightly factory primed, I elected to prime the open mating surfaces with the rattle can by peeling open the skin then applying a coat on each rib flange and then along the rivet hole lines on the skin inside. Once dry I continued the riveting and clecoed the skin half a bay past my work and then peeled the remaining skin back for access. It's going quick now and I should have it done by Monday.
