Brief Description:  brake system bleed, leak repair

First proI had to tackle starting the week's work was a nasty leak that had developed over time and already been 'repaired' once. With the previously mentioned twisted solid line replaced I again removed the manufactured line couplings and replaced the elbow on the left (which was the source of the worst and now only remaining leak) The leaked fluid had been collecting in a bottle and was strained to be used again in the brake bleed. I again torqed the offending couplings and added another half a turn on the fitting. This seems to have worked for now and with some more pumping and bleeding by the end of the day there was no evidence of a leak anywhere.

With the sytem now whole and airtight I again attempted the bleed but it wasn't long before the 500ml oil can pump gave in and in the process injected a whole bunch of air into the system. I realized the only way to effectively bleed this system was to source the previously mentioned materials and make up a proper system that would pressure feed fluid into the lines and circulate it through to the resrvoir where it would overflow into a bottle along with the air bubbles. I spent most of the day fighting the brakes but returned again later to work on the front deck and fittings.
