Brief Description: Fiberglass practice, fin tip, started stab tips
Spent a number of hours testing the various materials I had brought in for the composites work, including foams of different densities and make up, different light woods, uni and bidirectional glass cloths at different weights. Made up some mock tips and tried the different combinations of materials to achieve the strongest, lightest structure. Had no resins or catalyst at this point so made up an epoxy mix and even tried a white glue and filler. Spent some more time researching, sourcing and reading about glass work and specifically about aircraft composites and communicated with fellow builders to get the help I needed. Started work on the elevator tips - trimmed the left and right and opened the ends to fit the counterbalance weights in the elevator horns Left and Right.
