Brief Description:  Tires & Wheels

How to break the tire seal from the wheel WITHOUT damaging the wheel? Tried clamping the tire to squeeze it, putt a lot of weight on the tire to break the seal, etc. all to no avail. Took all of the bolts out of the wheel, the ‘O” ring would come out and I could check that. Of course, I still needed to get tire off of at least one side of the wheel to check and repair any scratches. Finally I determined that if I left one bolt in the wheel, and left that one bolt was loose, clamped the tire on the side where the bolt was on the wheel to the corner of my bench with a large clamp, then used an 8” “C” clamp with a 4” grip, and a special block cut to the shape of the wheel and a hole for the “C” clamp foot, I could use this setup on the opposite side of the tire clamped to my bench and press the tire seal away from the wheel. In most cases, it would not break the seal completely and I’d have to move the entire setup over a little and press the tire again. The entire process would take about 10 min. per wheel.

All of the tires a back on the shafts and holding the proper amount of air.
