Brief Description:  Tires & Wheels

Well, I thought mounting the tires went fine until I noticed that all of them leaked. Spent the entire afternoon trying everything I could think of to removed the tires from the wheels WITHOUT damaging the wheels. Talked to Zenith and Matco and didn’t get a lot of help. Matco did indicate that the leaks could be caused by very small scratches on the spilt wheel. They should be checked and buffed out if possible. They also suggest that a light coating of Vaseline could be used between the two halves and to help seat the “O” ring. They said NOT to take the tire and wheel to a tire shop; they would probably scratch it big time.

I actually took it to my local tire shop that I’ve used for years and they gave me the same answer. The indicated that, no matter how careful they were, the wheels would probably get some minor scratched.

The problem – how to get the tires off the wheels without damaging the wheel?
