Brief Description:  Verifying Glare Shield And Fuel Tank Fit/Position

Worked on testing fit the glare shield and fuel tank before final rivetting of the glare shield and positioning the fuel tank for the 6 week seasoning process to allow it to swell to operational size before mounting it.

Clecoed the glare shield into place, then installed the fuel tank to check fit and position. Had to pull the grip from the control stick and lay it over for clearance, as well as remove the clecoed side supports for the instrument panel.

Got the tank into position, then used a small jack to raise the aft edge of the tank so the top of the tank would contact the underside of the glare shield, then positioned the tank back against the tank stop flange.

All positioning looks good except the fuel vent fitting is not positioned in the tank such that it falls within the cutout in the glare shield for the filler opening. I've seen others report they experienced this as well, and the only resolution appears to be to drill a hole (~3/4" diameter) for the fitting to come up through, so the elbow fitting and 1/4" tubing can be installed. This was marked for drilling with a step-bit once the tank is removed to final rivet the glare shield into place.
