Brief Description:  New Vent Line Run On Engine Side Of Firewall

I decided to change the run of the fuel vent line on the engine side of the firewall. The run across the top of the engine compartment, then down to the oil capture tank and then out the bottom of the cowling introduced a couple issues. First, it requires some form of disconnection from the point where it exits the bottom of the cowling to remove the cowling. Secondly, it requires a longer run of vent line inside the engine compartment.

I still enter the engine compartment at the fuel filler cap area using the bulkhead fitting there. On the engine side, I minimized the run of the vent line inside the engine compartment by simply taking the vent line almost straight down, bending around the engine mount frame, and to another bulkhead fitting just over a foot lower on the firewall. Here, it re-enters the cabin area on the firewall right beside the firewall centerline support spline.

Next step will be to continue the vent line run on the inside of the firewall down along the spline to the fuselage floor and exit the airplane on the bottom of the fuselage.
