Brief Description: Installing Vertical Tail Fiberglass Tip Continued
|
|
Continued fitting/installing the vertical tail fiberglass tip.
Trimmed slight more than 1/8" of the bottom edges of the tip to bring the trailing edges of the tip and the rudder into alignment.
Once aligned properly, I drilled all #40 pilot holes on the vertical stabilizer portion, and clecoed this in place. I then removed the tip and layed out the 6 pilot holes on the trailing section of the tip which will be used to drill the holes into the trailing rib.
I then re-installed the tip and used the trailing section pilot holes to drill the #40 holes into the trailing rib, then fully clecoed the tip into position.
Next, I removed silver #40 clecoes a few at a tiem, updrilled the #40 holes to #30 size, then reclecoed with copper clecoes.
Once updrilling was completed, I dissassembled everything, deburred, and re-assembled with copper clecoes.
Final reveted the full tip into position with CCP-42 & CCP-44 rivets as specified by the plans.
