Brief Description:  Fitting the C-801 Canopy bubble

Page 9-2
The new Canopy from Todd seems easier to work with than the original from Vans. I am using a 80 grit 2" sanding disk on my angle grinder to remove plastic. The process is going smoothly.
To decide how much plastic to remove I have marked the center of the fuselage and the center of the canopy, I also put a mark on the fuselage where I want the front of the canopy to end up. To gauge how much plastic I still have to remove, I make up a small ball of modeling clay and put it into a small sandwich bag on top of the roll bar, then set the canopy in place. While the canopy is in place I mark a line from the fuselage on the canopy using dividers. The clay gives me a clear picture how much I am removing with each cut and how much i have yet to go and the marks ensure I place the canopy in the same place each time.
