Brief Description:  Final Assembly of the Rudder

This morning I continued some of the riveting I started on the rudder yesterday evening. I've gone as far as I can until I get the ProSeal stuff for the trailing edge.

Next weekend, once I get back from my latest trip, I should have the sealing compound and can finish off the rudder.

Thus far, the final assembly instructions for the rudder seem to be quite interesting...you have to bend one skin back to insert blind rivets to pull everything together. The good news is that blind rivets are the simplest things you can imagine (talk about speed).

I have a pneumatic blind rivet puller that I purchased with my tools...man...that's the best money you can possibly spend. Each rivet seems to go in perfectly in less than a second. Given that the next step (once the sealant is in place) has to be completed in under about two hours, I should be done in about 20 minutes.

Do yourself a favor and buy a pneumatic blind rivet puller if you're building (or planning to build). You'll be very happy.
