I looked everywhere for any instructions about installing the tail rotor, but I never did find anything. I looked back at a number of photos of other ships over the years and tried to account for everything I needed to from the success of others. There are 4 bolts that hold the tail rotor to the frame from the bottom, and there are 2 more bolts that hold the gearbox down to the frame with an arch piece. Those 2 holes needed to be drilled as well. It was a little bit of a pain in the butt just because of the angle marking them, but it worked out fine.
This is another one of those significant components that make a huge impact to the look of the helicopter. The tail rotor is an obvious part of the ship and can’t be confused as anything else. I will be adding stripes to the titanium blades, but I figured it would be easier to apply them once it was bolted in place. The rotor looks and feels very smooth.
