Brief Description:  Tail Rotor Cable Cover

(Okay…this will piss PA Tom off) I hated the fact that the very visible tail rotor cable came bright blue. As you know, my helicopter is red and black….with no blue ANYWHERE!

My solution was to order 20+ feet of black heat shrink in one solid piece, and then cover the tail rotor cable from head to toe. It was a challenge to get it installed, and I had to commit to a very slow pace and even used compressed air to keep it moving.

Once I got it completely covered, I used a heat gun to shrink the tube to a nice tight fit. This entire operation took much longer than expected, but it came out REALLY nice. I hope to be able to route the cable inside the structure of the tail boom, but that is only if it came long enough from the factory. I really hope that will be the case because I want it to be a very secure and strong installation, and of course I would like it to look good, if possible.

Tom made a nice cover for the cable in the cabin to keep passengers from stepping on it, but I haven’t decided if I’m going to do that yet. Stay tuned.
